Who are your favorite artists and why?

Carole Watanabe - Carole is a master colorist and I love her carefree style. Robert Burridge - I love Robert's carefree style and approach to getting loose and playful with your creativity. He teaches workshops and has a variety of workbooks n DVDs.

What medium do you prefer to work in?

Acrylic paints and mixed media (usually different kinds of paper). So far I only have worked on canvas, but am interested in art boards.

What is your favorite subject matter?

Close up nature, mostly plants. I also like turning micro-photography into abstract paintings. Patterns, texture - all from real life - painted in a way that looks abstract. I'm also really getting into Wabi Sabi style and philosophy and mixed media. I like the ancient Japanese wood print color schemes. Landscapes and symbolic abstract pictures tend well toward mixed media. I also like the Japanese art of floral arrangement called Ikebana. It has inspired a couple of paintings I've done as well.

Do you have an online portfolio of your work? (If so please feel free to share the link!)

I don't have an official site yet because I am building my portfolio. Until then, follow my progress on FaceBook: or on my blog

Would you be interested in future meetups geared towards critiquing and constructive criticism?

Alameda acrylic painter and illustrator looking to meet other artists and be inspired.

What Amy is saying about this Meetup Group

Awesome! Very pro-active and goal oriented. I like this. Sitting, sketching and chatting are fine, but when this group took on the element of being involved in shows and learning, it took on a whole new dimension that is incredibly empowering as an artist.
