Introduction to Studio Setup and Lighting

This location is shown only to members

This studio and flash photography workshop will offer an introduction to studio setup and lighting. We will start with a 'blank room' and we will assemble the seamless background, the flash heads and accessories. Then we will light a typical 'high key' portrait setup using a flash meter and single, and then multiple flash heads.

You will learn how to set up a studio to shoot, how to manage monoblock flash heads, softboxes, light modifiers, flash settings, ratios, how to pose a model and how to work with wireless flash triggers.

Each attendee will have the opportunity to shoot using the setup, and using the wireless studio flash system.

The Meetup will run from 12 until about 4PM.

Maximum of 10 attendees. Cost will be $25 per person.

Graham, the class was nothing short of spectacular. Seriously, I took an intro to photography course recently and I learned more in one afternoon with you than I did in whole semester of classes. In short, thank you.

I did not think I made it on this list but I did get an e-mail saying I was on the list. I will not be able to make it and I just wanted to make sure if I was on this list that someone else can take my place!

hi Graham, I'm hoping to get better at lighting the flowers that I'm photographing for my paintings... and to figure out how to photograph my paintings. Will these types of lighting situations be covered also? Just asking, I'm sure that whatever is taught will increase my knowledge tremendously, since I'm starting at close to zero! Looking forwards to saturday!

Lilliana we'll be covering the basics and those basics will work for everything. You may need to practice and learn more to get good at painting photography, but you'll be well on your way.

Look forward to working with you!

Tremendously informative... went home with a much better ability to set-up and photograph the simple scenes that I shoot, even though I will use only a fraction of this cornucopia of knowledge! Graham is a gifted teacher as well as photographer. He uses sparkle and humor to keep the class moving and get his information across.

I learned so much about the technical and creative aspects of studio lighting. Graham was very clear, thorough and good at explaining to people with different levels of knowledge. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning about these things.

This was a very fun and informative class and I learned a lot. Graham had a lot of knowledge and does a very good job explaining things and then asking questions that make you think about what you just learned.

This session was fantastic, it was great having an opportunity to be hands on with the equipment. Also the teaching about interpretting the histogram was invaluable.

Holy cow! My head is STILL spinning from the amount of information Graham shared with our group today. I feel like I learned so many things that it will take me a long time to fully digest them all - but oh what a banquet of knowledge. Graham is a great teacher, humorous and very talented. He has an encyclopedia's worth of knowledge available and he shares it freely and really lets the class work through the process of off camera lighting from beginning to end - understanding not only WHAT all the bits, pieces, lights and light modifiers are but HOW to use them in concert with your camera to make really beautiful portraits. Wow. Just wow. And if you're still wondering, yes you should sign up and go!
