First and foremost Alamo City Bull Breeds United is a Pit Bull advocacy; we believe in educating both the public and owners. Debunking rumors, myths and misinformation about the breed known as the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT), we include both the American Staffordshire Terrier (AST) and American Bully (AmBully) and of course any mixes of the three breeds. If you are looking for truthful information about Pit Bulls you will find it here. We are brutally honest about their history, their temperament, the realities of rehoming and rescue as well as the joy they bring their owners. Please take the time to read our entire website; you will find it is chocked full of useful breed info.
We also encourage those interested in the breed to do their research before buy or adopting. You may discover that Pit Bulls aren’t the breed for you. We at Alamo City Bull Breeds United love our dogs and firmly believe that while Pit Bulls make great pets; we realize they aren’t the breed for everyone.
What we are isn’t a rescue.
Alamo City Bull Breeds United firmly believes in keeping Pit Bulls and their mixes in their current homes and out of shelters and rescues. Did you know that because of their reputation Pit Bulls are one of the hardest breeds to find homes for; especially adults. Add to that a dog that has “issues” and it is a recipe for a dog that is unlikely to be adopted and will die in the shelter or become institutionalized in a rescue. Please read these horror stories about rescues that failed before you decide that a rescue is the best place for your dog: Spindletop (Texas) and Smiling Pit Bull Rescue (New York).
What Do We Do to Keep Pit Bulls in Homes?
We show owners how to be responsible with these dogs.
We can give advice on easy ways to keep your dog contained. As well help you with a simple dog house that is better than any commercially sold house available and more affordable. We will even build you one if need be; just send us an e-mail through the Contact link to the left and put “Dog house” in the subject line.
Do you have a high energy, high drive dog? If so, we can show you some basic exercises that will not only burn energy but stimulate your dog’s mind. Remember, a tired dog is a good dog.
Is your dog not always friendly with other dogs? While we can’t “fix” your dog to make them like other dogs we can show you ways to manage and safely socialize your dog.
We offer Pit Bull Education classes January - May. Classes fill up pretty quickly so be sure to sign-up early. Classes will always be announced by e-mail but you can also check our calendar.
We also host FREE weight pull training (Sunday only). Whether you come out for fun or are interested in training for competition weight pull is a great way to exercise and socialize your dog.
All obedience classes are taught by Karen Pearce Training. She also offers regular obedience classes at two different locations if you are unable to make it to one of our classes.
ACBBU is also a proud supporter of the American Preservation Dog Registry (APDR) www.apdrdogs.org/. APDR offers registration for American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bullies; as well as non-papered or mix breed dogs.
