If you are a fan of exploring abandoned buildings, you will not be disappointed at the choice of places to explore in Gary, IN. While Gary is not as big as Detroit, they have some really interesting buildings to photograph. One observation I made is that many of the buildings still have artifacts and architectural elements intact that you would not find in Detroit (they would have been taken, scrapped or destroyed by now). We have several buildings to take you to!
Alanna St. Laurent will be your guide and instructor on this trip. She will guide you to the must-see buildings in Gary and help you capture the best images possible in these environments. Attendees are responsible for cost of lodging, meals and transportation. We are limiting attendance to 6 participants so we can keep the group small for exploration, so sign up today!
This trip will require a Saturday overnight stay. I will share the itinerary, meetup location and hotel info (room with 2 queen beds is running $139) with those who sign up for the trip. I encourage those who come to car pool. The drive is approximately 4 hours from Detroit.
See a video of images I took here:
Your signature on a liability waiver will be required for this trip.
What to bring: Bring your camera, tripod, wide angle to midrange lens and flashlight. Dress in rugged clothing and footwear for this environment. I will share a suggested equipment list for the trip.
