This workshop is considered an advanced workshop where those who participate will have to already be proficient with their DSLR camera.
Join Chris Clark as he shows you how to get great images of the hydroplanes! He has shot the hydroplane Gold Cup trials in past years and has access to the Detroit Yacht Club, where you will be shooting from along the Detroit River. Chris will show you how to capture the hydroplanes and what camera settings you will need in order to catch these fast-moving machines and get sharp images!
A[masked]mm lens is required for this workshop. Due to hydroplanes traveling at 220mph, in order to adequately capture good images you will need a telephoto with this reach. If you do not own a lens of this size, you can rent one at ProCam for the event.
You will meet Chris at the Big Boy restaurant located on Jefferson Ave. for the discussion/workshop portion before heading to the Detroit Yacht Club to shoot the hydroplanes (and you can have breakfast/lunch while Chris talks). You will only be photographing the unlimited hydroplanes, which runs until 4pm (but doesn't mean you have to stay until then, you can leave when you feel like you have captured the images you want). Chris will be there for questions and guidance during the trials.
Gold Cup organizers are still finalizing their schedule so if the times stated here change, I will email all participants of the new meeting time.
You will park your car across the street from the yacht club after the discussion wraps up. Head in to the Detroit Yacht Club from here (the DNR confirmed parking will not be charged on the island during the trials).
For more hydroplane images, see Chris' website (all images were captured with a 500mm lens).
Please read the refund policy for this workshop.
