Jay Ofsthun Memorial Show & Shine and dinner afterwards

August 3rd - 9 am to 5 pm
36th  Annual Jay Ofsthun Memorial Show & Shine
on the Anchorage Park Strip.

This is Alaska's biggest car show put on by the Midnight Sun Street Rod Association.

This is a free event, everyone is welcome.  It's a gathering of all the Car clubs in the state and has had close to 400 cars attending in past years.

So if your looking for something to do come check this out.

I'll be there with one of my collector cars, afterward we can cruise to dinner

Nice to see so many classic cars together in one spot. A few close to the model I once owned. Major restoration, lift kits, fancy wheels and nitro fuel tanks? Not for me right now, but I'm glad to see people with a passion for something that keeps history alive.

Great meetup! I showed up a little late and was pretty much in and out but I'd love to make an introduction next time! Thank you for posting this meetup!

Thanks for showing off your '34 Chrysler camper, Otto. She's a real beauty. I never did see Jerry's Lotus with the "big butt" . . . it appears that your camper could qualify for a "big butt" contest winner, too.

I have my own restoration project in Florida - it's an antique 1974 American LaFrance hook and ladder fire truck - one of those tractor-trailer ladder trucks with a tillerman sitting at the rear end, steering the back of the trailer through traffic. I drove it from Salt Lake City to Tampa alone . . . an real adventure in itself. Maybe its trailer could qualify as a "big butt" too? ;o)

Here are a couple photos if it. Anyone wanta volunteer to drive the trailer? ;o)

hello there new in this group, where is everybody meeting for the car show?

    August 3

    • Bobbie and my side k.

Hey Erick, at events like this, we don't have a particular spot. You are on your own until everyone meets for dinner. I think it said MSSr. Not sure what that is but anyway now that it's raining people might be following Otto's lead. Just keep reading up on the posts thru out the day to see where people end up at. At other events where we do things as a group there will be a sign generally. Hope this helps.

This is the 36th year of the Show -N-Shine and the first time we have had rain this early in the morning. It's 9-5 so hopefully the rain will stop as the forecast says.

I'm heading in in a few minutes. You can sit it out and come later and see if it clears up. There is sure to be a few diehards there.

If the rain continues all day I'm not sure I'll stay in town to meetup for dinner.

New members If your looking for me ask anyone at the Midnight Sun table to point me out I'll be driving my 34 Chrysler Camper.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
