I moved to Alaska in December for work and adventures. I have been a part of several veg groups but this is the first one that I have been the organizer. I'm really hoping to be able to help people make lifestyle decisions that are right for them.

Are you Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw, or Just Curious and how long?

I have been vegan for almost 6 yrs. When I decided to move here some of my non-veg friends asked me if I'm still going to be able to be vegan in Alaska, the answer to that is a resounding yes :-)

Where do you live (Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, etc)?

I live in Anchorage in the Midtown area.

What prompted you to become a member?

To meet kewl peeps, lol, jk...really jk. Ok I'm done now, I promise.

Just went to Sakura Sushi which is in the Hotel Alyeska and had super dinner. We had miso soup, edamame, crispy tofu with sea salad, grilled pepper appetizer, and two vegetarian rolls that are the best veggie sushi I've ever had. LOTS of flavor and lots lots of ingredients- not the typical cucumber or avocado roll. I don't know how many people would want to drive down to G-wood for a sushi dinner, I know I couldn't swing it with Violet, but it might be a fun meetup for those wanting sushi

It is open to all levels of skiers &or snowshoers. The ski trails are reported to be well groomed. You can always check on that at this link http://www.crosscountryalaska.org/tra... You can rent skis or snowshoes at REI. Skiing has a steep learning curve but if you can walk, you can snowshoe. It is about getting outdoors with fun people and fresh air!
