Alberta TAR SANDS - The Dirty Truth and Breaking America's addiction

The anti-democratic Alberta and Canadian colonial governments take their instructions from the US and China-based Multinational corporations, trampling on the rights of the majority of ordinary Canadians who are against these tar sands megaprojects.

Please support us in our struggle to raise awareness by joining our http://CAUSEonline.in... online discussions, watching the numerous documentary videos we've posted to our www.CAUSEonline.info Meetup site, and help us spread the word by also starting these discussions in all the environmentally-minded groups you are part of.

Canada's Dirty Oil: breaking our addiction

Tar Sands Oil Extraction - The Dirty Truth

Facts:

It covers an area the size of england: APRIL 2011 UPDATE: Total area= 140,200 km squared, or 54,132 square miles. Currently, this is actually larger than the size of England (it's about the size of England and Wales combined).

Oil from the tar sands is one of the world's most carbon-intensive fuels

Two tonnes of tar sand produces a single barrel of oil.

One gallon of tar sands oil require up to 4 gallons of fresh water to be permanently containated (rendered untreatable and peranently stored in leaking toxic tailings lakes.

2 million barrels of tar sands oil production per day produces up to 8 million barrels of untreatable toxic waste water.

Canada doesn't need any of this dirty oil as Canada is more than self-sufficient on oil produced using conventional sources.

Every day 11 million litres (4 million US gallons) of toxic waste water leaks into important waterways like the Athabasca River from the tar sands tailings lakes, contaminating the world's 3rd largest river system and vast areas of northern Canada.

The tar sands generate 40 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, more than every car in Canada combined.

The oil itself is bitumen which contains cancer-causing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

To reach the bitumen, the Boreal Forest is destroyed.

Because of the tar sands, Canada's greenhouse gas emissions have grown more since 1990 than those of any other G8 nation.

Because of the Canada oil sands, the air is polluted with dangerous toxins, poisoning communities with rare cancers and autoimmune diseases.

It destroys critical animal habitats and some of Canada's most pristine landscapes.

Unfortunately, the Alberta government approves every proposed megaproject without question.

Take action and spread the word!

The Northern Gateway Pipeline

The Canadian federal government is holding so-called environmental hearings even before receiving any permission from the natives to build the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline across native land. (to illegally export dirty oil to China) All 40 BC native nations (Canada's equivalent to Tibetans) are opposed to this "Northern Gateway" pipeline and the resulting tanker traffic through extremely narrow, environmentally sensitive Canadian waterways.

The Chinese Gov't owns $20 billion worth of Tar Sands assets and our Canadian gov't has just left for (visiting)China to receive their instructions/marching orders.

Canadian federal Conservative governments have a long history of foreign interests financing and helping with their campaigns. Canadian Conservative politicians tend not to disclose who finances them and for how much.

The Eastern six Canadian provinces (3/4 of Canada's population) prefers to import most of their oil from foreign sources rather than to build cross-Canada pipelines to use Dirty Alberta Tar Sands Oil... Yet the US and the PRC(China) seem to want it very badly!!!

Building the Northern Gateway pipeline to feed Chinese tankers will also result in the raising of the North American domestic oil price by at least $3/barrel, if not much more....
