How would you describe your kayaking experience? e.g. beginner (not been out yet to a few times), novice(been out more than a dozen times), kayak regularly (been out lots of times),been-there-done- that.(out in all conditions)
Do you own a kayak? If so, what kind?
Do you accept responsibility for your own safety while kayaking with the group? yes or no.
Are you aware of safety gear and how to use it? Please write briefly about a safety item that you use when you kayak and why you use it?
What sort of kayaking are you hoping to do with this group? (and be creative here... locations, scheduling, distances/lengths of time, etc.)
no more than 3 hours in calm easy to paddle waters
I enjoy kayaking and would consider myself a novice.

Hi everyone! Welcome to the Albany Area Kayaking Meetup group!
PLEASE!!! READ AND UNDERSTAND THE ENTIRE INTRODUCTION TO THE GROUP BEFORE APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP!!!
To link people with experience in kayaking, so that we can go out and paddle, talk about paddling, share skills, experiences, places to go and generally have fun.
That experience should entail knowing what your abilities are on the water and being comfortable there (how long you are able to paddle without stopping), how far you can paddle (some of our trips can be HOURS long), basic knowledge of safety (PFD, whistle, how not to get runover by a boat going 50 mph, etc.), and the ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY-along with the ABILITY TO SWIM if you need to.
Kayaking can be dangerous if you are new to it, so none of the people in the group want to be held responsible for inexperienced members who might be unprepared. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS BEFORE YOU JOIN!
When applying for membership with this group please answer each question in detail.
We want for everyone to have fun and advance their skills so that we can all enjoy the water together!
We encourage you to read up on kayaking in the file section of our meetup group and/or get some books from your local library.
