Sunday Berkeley Marina Walk

Use a mapping program and map out 11 Spinnaker Way, Berkeley, CA for the best directions.  Drive to the end of the road.  We will meet in the circle at the end of the road where traffic loops around.

This walk is almost exactly 30 minutes depending on your pace with additional trails for the more ambitious walker!  Trails are paved.

We will leave promptly at 9 a.m. so try to get there a little early.

I enjoyed myself but became separated from the group after a short time because I seem to prefer walking at a slower pace and allowing my dog to do a fair amount of sniffing new areas and socializing with other dogs. At this walk and others I've attended it seems like a lot of the folks are trying to set speed records.I'm not opposed to that but my focus is geared to taking in the scenery and views of bay rather than trying to cover a lot of ground in a short bit of time. My friend Cindy who was with me today has been on many Sierra club hikes where there is a sense of competition to see who can get to the end the soonest. That is not my goal at all. Anyway I had never spent much time at Cesar Chavez park and I liked it more than I expected.

Hi, Mark. Sorry we left you behind. We're not really competitive - we just generally walk around 3 mph to get our cardio in. Glad you enjoyed the park! It is lovely now with wildflowers blooming and lots of green!

It was a beautiful morning. Thank you, Erika, for the ride to and from the marina. Those goats were quite a sight.

Beautiful morning! Lots of the fog burned off during our walk. Livia pointed out a large flock of goats in Berkeley Meadows munching on the brush. Six people walked.

    Hi Guys,
I did the Marin Ordway walk yesterday so I think I'll try the Sunday walk next week. I enjoy walking through neighborhoods and looking at yards and gardens. My only complaint would be about time. I would love walks of an hour nor two. Aside from that I've really had a good time at every meet-up I've been to. Keep up the good work.

Hi, Mark! The basic idea of our walks is to do 30 minutes, or a little more, frequently, and we are a little bit more oriented to fitness than enjoying the scenery (although we do that as well). You are welcome to post on scheduled walks that you would like to walk longer or even to post your own walks!
