Introduction

I'm back in the Capital District where I grew up after graduating from RIT in Rochester recently. I'm looking to meet some new friends, start a new career, try new things, and blaze a new trail. I love to travel and I've done my fair share.

What kind of activities do you want to do with our group? Flying? Skydiving? Kayaking? Hiking? Or light adventures like dinner & a movie?

I up for anything with like minded people. I am always in search of a new adventure. Hot air balloon, ultra light flying, white water rafting are a few thoughts that come to mind I haven't done or would like to do. Meeting up for some worldly food or drinks and sharing ideas would be great. Also there are so many untraveled places close by (like Howe Caverns) that you don't have to go far to find an adventure or new experience.

What was your all time favorite trip?

Australia was fantastic. I made it to Sydney, Melbourne, Caines, Brisbane and a bunch of beaches in between. I cleared out a bunch of things I'd wanted to try including diving the Great Barrier reef, snorkeling, sailing, sky diving (Mission Beach), hang gliding, and white water rafting. I still haven't tried surfing, if I had a few more days in my trip I'd have gotten that covered as well. The country is so vast and beautiful, the best comparison would be California if you add in a tropical rain forest.

What's the next trip you're planning?

Headed down to NYC shortly and possibly combine the trip with a visit back out to western NY to hit up some friends and some vineyards.

Favorite weekend trip?

My buddy and I flew to Sofia, Bulgaria (when I was in Germany) to visit a couple of friends of his. I ended up going with one of his friends and two young ladies he'd just met to the Black Sea for fun and sun. We jet skiied and para sailed on the Black Sea, stayed at a friend's resort hotel for the night and had a great and unique unplanned experience. If only I spoke Bulgarian I'd have had even more fun.

Favorite day trip from Albany?

Favorite day trip from Albany is difficult to be sure since there have ben many. The one that comes to mind is a trip my brother and I took with my 95 year old grandfather a few summers ago for his birthday. We all drove out to Cooperstown and toured the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was my first time there and it might as well have been my grandfathers, though he said he'd been there many decades ago, no doubt it was completely different now. Cooperstown was an eye-openingly beautiful deistination with so much more to see than just the Baseball Hall of Fame. I haven't been back yet, but vowed that I would.

  • Hi, John,

See you at the library soon. There are about 9 of us going to photos/exhibit and dinner. There's always room for one more at dinner. So you can decide at the last moment.
