Indoor Pools for Kayaking

There are a number of indoor pools for kayaking throughout New Mexico. These are great places to try it out, improve your skills, or meet other paddlers.

Each pool is managed by a different municipality, and each have their own requirements. With all pools, it is important that your kayak be clean before entering the pool. Please wash off any mud, leaves and other debris that may get into the pool.

The Adobe Whitewater Club (AWC) rents the Los Altos pool every Wednesday night of the year. While the event is sponsored by the AWC, it is not limited to whitewater paddlers - any and all paddlers are welcome to attend.

Where? Los Altos Pool.
For a map and directions, click here.

When? Every Wednesday night of the year.

What time? 8-10pm
Note: Regular hours are 8-10pm. However, during the Summer when APS is out of session (late May through mid August) the hours change to 8:30-10:30. Sometimes the pool manager lets us know about the time change....and sometimes we have to wait outside.

  • $4 if you're a member of the AWC & the American Canoe Association (ACA)
  • $10 if you're not a member of either. You're allowed 2 "trial" pool sessions before you must join both the ACA & AWC. Why? Because the City of Albuquerque (CABQ) requires the AWC to provide its own insurance, which it gets through the ACA. Therefore, you must become a member of both the AWC & ACA.
  • For membership to the AWC, click here.
  • For membership to the ACA, click here.
  • When applying to the American Canoe Association online or via hard-copy, you may be asked if you're affiliated with a Paddle America Club. If you're a member of the Adobe Whitewater Club (a Paddle America Club), then enter "Adobe Whitewater Club", and you should receive a discount on the ACA membership.

Rio Rancho:
Where? Rio Rancho Aquatics Center
