Film Time 7:00PM

FREE: First Come First Served Early Arrival Strongly Suggested Seating Starts @ 6:30PM

The Korean Film Festival kicks off with a bang as Park Chan-wook presents the area premiere of Stoker, his first American production. This haunting mystery was coproduced by Ridley and Tony Scott, written by Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller, and stars Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney, and Nicole Kidman. After India’s (Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after Charlie’s arrival, India comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives—but instead of feeling outrage or horror, the friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him. (Dir.: Park Chan-wook, United States, 2013, 99 min., English)

The Director, Park Chan-wook, may field questions after the screening.

I got there at 4:30p and wasn't even at the very front! I saved two seats but for some reason they miscounted the seat availability and turned away too many. It was a great event and I am grateful for the director Q&A followed by the dinner/conversation afterwards. Awesome night!

We saved a few seats but they're not letting more in. The count is obviously off. My apologies to those who didn't get in. Far more popular than i expected

    About to park

    March 2, 2013

  • Ana

I drove into DC and there is plenty of street parking. You have to pay meter until 6:30 pm; it's free after that.

I am on the same page with Liz. Also, with the blue line track track repairs and delays, I will have to take a rain check. Hope you guys have a great time and look forward to the next outing.

    Hi there!
I am excited to join this event and group for the first time :)

I have previously been to a few Freer & Sackler film shows and they were all pretty good!

Confirmed that director Park Chan-wook is doing a Q&A after the film. We may head out to Carmine's later than expected, the restaurant closes at 11PM. Plan accordingly.

Is the rear left corner (as you face the screen) the door people go through to enter the auditorium & the door people will go through to leave when the movie's over?

    March 2, 2013

    • Shannon

Standing with your back to the screen. It is NOT the door people will enter/exit so will provide space for a small group to loiter a while.

      March 2, 2013

  • Shannon

After the movie lets hold back and congregate near the rear left corner of the screening room. Near the "alarmed" Exit door that we will be advised not to exit via (by the museum host).

Anyone up for the 10min walk, we can try Carmine's. http://www.carminesnyc.com/locations/washington-dc/

Definitely open to any other suggestions.

Shannon, for those of us who can't get a cell signal in the Freer basement will you have a "Meetup" sign? Also, by 9 p.m. some of us may get hungry. Have you any plans for dinner after the movie?

Shannon, I just checked Teaism hours, and restaurant closes at 9 PM Saturdays. (https://teaism.com/Res...)

Wow that is very early for a Saturday. Thanks for the heads up. Doing some research now but it may be difficult to find another fairly quiet place to accommodate a group after the film in the China Town area.
