  • This location is shown only to members

The NYC Metropolitan Opera is showing a few operas as part of a summer encore series Live in HD. These operas are shown through a satellite fed to theaters around the country. Read more, here.

This event's opera is Rossini's Armida.

Click here for the Wikipedia page for the opera.

Click here for Met Opera page.

A nice introduction and video here.

Cost: $12.50  Click here to purchase ticket.

Showtime: 7:00PM

Running Time: 3 hours

I will be waiting in the lobby from 6:00-6:15PM to the right of the ticket purchasing area I will be wearing my cowboy hat. After that look for my cowboy hat in the screening room.

Note:  These live operas do have intermissions. You also get to see how the Met takes sets apart and puts new ones up between acts. They also interview members of the cast and crew.  These breaks create other opportunities (besides intermission) to run to the restroom or take a break from the show.

AMC Hoffman Theater Information

My first time seeing an opera. Very interesting. I almost clapped at the end of each act, then realized we were not actually at the opera house!!

Oh, yes, a lot of people clap between acts in the theater viewings, especially at the shows on Saturday. We had a very hush hush crowd on Wednesday.
