Mission of the Group
Our goal is to have fun and make new friends through the use of face-to-face gaming and social gatherings. We want our new friends to have so much fun that they become old friends.
We have very few rules. The rules are about how Meetup software, hosts, members, and funds interact to accomplish our mission.
Meetup Software
Meetup software provides the primary means for tracking events, RSVP's and for solicitation of new members. Meetup costs the group approximately $12 monthly.
Event Hosts
Event hosts are people who arrange and organize events for the group. Event hosts are “assistant organizers” or AOs. An AO has complete autonomy over his/her events. The AO uses the Meetup Software to schedule events when and where the AO sees fit. The AO uses his/her own resources to secure venues. The AO pays any debts incurred by the event. The AO keeps any fees that the AO collects. The group and the organizer only request that AO welcome any new members who attend the event.
Events
Nearly any fun activity is permitted under the broad umbrella of games and social events. Most events will occur within 5 miles of Alexandria Virginia. Events of most interest to our members are related to gaming and social networking. We have hosted events related to gaming, boardgaming, wargaming, role-playing games, ball-room dancing, barbecues, laser tag, bowling and social get-togethers. Potlucks and dining out are also highly sought-after.

Members
The organizer, the assistant organizer and everyone who has joined the group is a member. The group doesn't exist without members. Members may make use of the software and events in any manner which suits their needs, unless such usage negatively impacts the mission or needs of the group. Members who post negative comments will be warned or removed or banned at the sole discretion of the group's Organizer.
Funds
In the past the group developed a treasury and managed shared funds to cover certain expenses. Henceforth, the management of shared funds is not the purview of this group and the organizer will not be in the business of holding funds.
The only community funds are the funds required to pay for Meetup software. All other funds are disbursed by members to assistant organizers as needed. So long as the group has 10 AO's this fee will be less than $1 monthly.
Sponsors
The Meetup software is paid for by corporate sponsors. Members are encouraged to patronize our sponsors because they enable access to the group at no charge to anyone. Three businesses have stepped forward to sponsor our group. The fee is split equally by our sponsors, and additional sponsors or donors are welcomed to join at any time.
