Come to Grado, Italy, for a week's Renaissance music summer school, 20-27 April 2014. The highlight will be to sing a recently re-discovered work by Ivor de Vento [masked]), a student of Lassus and Merulo. Join other early music enthusiasts, under the musical direction of Edzard Burchards, in singing the Missa Surrexit Pastor Bonus, together with motets by other Venetian composers including Merulo and Gabrieli. The summer school will give a performance in the Cathedral of Aquileia on the Thursday and in Latisana on the Saturday, as well as sing in the Cathedral during a Sunday morning mass. Both concerts will also feature a local early music brass ensemble.
Non-singing partners are welcome, as there is plenty to see and do in Grado (explore the lagoon, the Roman port of Aquilea, the nature reserve); and in the region (Venice, Trieste).
The costs for the week are €895 or £755 person, for a single room, excluding travel but including hotel accommodation in Grado, music etc.
A discount on the cost of the summer school is available for young musicians (under 25) with an interest in early music.
