The cabinet of curiosities that is The Fairy Queen returns to Glyndebourne in the summer. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment makes its annual summer migration to the Sussex countryside. It is led by harpsichordist Laurence Cummings, who is also head of historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music.
The best-dressed train in the UK leaves London Victoria at 13.47. The free bus picks up from Lewes station at 15.00 and the performance starts at 16.40. The opera ends at 21.30 and the same bus takes us back to the station to catch the train returning to London.
To whet your appetite are videos here, here and here; plus my photos taken at last summer's Meetup.
Tickets for this performance cost from £20. General public booking opens on 24th March 2012 via this link. Good luck, everyone!
1st June - I am closing RSVPs as this event is now sold out.
