WFPK is sponsoring an awesome show at Headliners at the end of the month: Red Baraat with Apalatin. I've seen Red Baraat twice now and they are a hella party. The last time I went was at the KY Center and I danced my ass off. It's loud, funky, make you want to dance kind of music. I've heard that Apalatin is also very cool. People rave about them. It's supposed to be a fusion of Appalachian music and Latin music. I've been listening to some samples while I've been writing this, and I'm digging it :)
Tickets are only $12 ($14 day of show). If you want to buy them in advance, click here.
We're going to do a special event and go check this concert out. You should come!
You can check out Red Baraat's music here and Appalatin here.
The Village Voice describes the group as:
Brooklyn nine-piece party-starters Red Baraat are thus far the most exciting local prospect of this short year, a fiery blend of raucous Indian bhangra and funky New Orleans brass. The result, needless to say, is completely riotous. Their debut CD, Chaal Baby is an unstoppable blend of Bollywood hijacks and funk freakier than anything Madlib picked up on his trip to India.
