Pontoon to Sand Bar with the ATO gang!

  • Dec 7, 2013 · 11:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

DUE TO UNFORESEEN ADDITIONAL FEES WITH PAYPAL and since ATO no longer charges annual dues, the new pontoon fees for the people in the 3rd boat are $15 to cover costs with paypal and money for paper products that I'll be buying to bring so we will have plates, utensils and cups to use at the event.

Fiesta Pontoon Boat Cruise to Kaneohe Sandbar and Potluck Safeway Accessing Kaneohe Base - Need people who are military or have access to military to access base and sponsor those who can't get on!!! LET US KNOW IF YOU CAN so we can get the process done quickly!!!!

It's that time again to enjoy a relaxing weekend with the gang as we cruise around Kaneohe Bay and head out to the famous sand bar at noon. Ahu o Laka or "The Sand Bar" is a small sand islet which is exposed at low tide and awash at high tide. A "beach in the middle of the ocean," Ahu o Laka is a favorite gathering spot for boaters and other recreational users of Kaneohe Bay. We'll eat some lunch, play some frisbee, throw a football, fish, snorkel, take a walk around the sand bar or just relax. Feel free to bring food to share among the group, so please bring something to share, it's a potluck as usual so bring pre-made foods! We On our way back we'll take a tour around Coconut Island, a fishing sanctuary for the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology and hopefully stop for a quick snorkel. We plan to stay at the sand bar until 4:30 pm, if you can't stay for the entire trip please do not RSVP! The cost is $15 per person for the 4 hour excursion. In order to rsvp you will need to pre-pay. Please keep in mind due to the high demand, and dealing with money, if you cancel last minute and we can't find a replacement for you, we will keep your funds to pay the boat captains as they have paid in advanced to book the boat. Also as a perk to paid members, this event will be limited to paid members only.

DA PLAN: Lets meet up at Aikahi Shopping Center at 11:30am (please be prompt) in front of Safeway. We will then move our cars to one of the side streets by Aikahi Elementary and car pool down to the Marina. Load up the boat and depart at 12:30 pm sharp, we will leave you behind if you are on Hawaiian time to be fair to the rest that showed up on time. The fiesta boat capacity is limited to 10 per boat. We have two for now...

DA ESSENTIALS: 1. water/non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is not allowed on the boats (unless we don't know about it) We are all adults so please be responsible for yourself. 2. swimming gear and sun protection. 3. personal folding chair (optional) 4. food/snacks. Feel free to bring whatever you want to share with the group. 5. Swim at your own risk--If you're not a good swimmer stay on the sandbar or on the boat. 6. BRING A FLOATIE DEVICE - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

DA PARKING: If you do not have post access, you will need to park your vehicles on the street alongside the Aikahi Elementary School (parking at the Shopping Center is not advisable) and then carpool with those who do. Legal Disclaimer: Meetup.com, ATO, the event hosts, and the group leader are not responsible if anything happens to you or your property during this event. Do not leave valuables in your car. Swim & Drink at your own risk- when in doubt don't go out...etc.

Thanks, Phuong

So appreciated. You made such a wonderful day/event. Life does feel good. Everybody is so friendly sharing and taking care of each other. This is such a cool group. Thanks a lot P, our captain, April, Al and.... owe my life to you hahahahaha... You found such beautiful place, my zero photography training lazy point and shoot automatic pictures can't do total justice of the beauty of nature. Possible to visit/kayak to some small "island" in the future?

Phuong, Karen thank you both for organizing the event; and Tricia for getting another boat. Had a great time with everyone, one of my best Sandbar trip ever. Happy holiday everyone.

If anyone wants to bail out, I would love to go! I live right by the safeway you are meeting at, so I dont need a huge amount of notice to get there - just enough time to grab swim stuff and walk across the street.

    December 4, 2013

  • Phuong aka P

Also any last minute bailouts may not be refunded if i cant find a last minute replacement

    December 3, 2013

    • Paul

I guess the way it was worded sounded confusing, but I still want to go. I just didn't want to take up an extra spot that someone else could use because my expected guest couldn't go.

      December 4, 2013

    • Phuong aka P

Sorry. It sounded like you wanted to cancel for both u and ur guest. At this point boat is now full. I will refund both u and your guest after the event.

    P gurl you rock...thanks ..can't wait too par tee...lol

    December 4, 2013

  • Phuong aka P

ok, everyone, any more changes after today may cost you non refund because i'm a volunteer organizer, i'm not getting paid for this, and it's taking a lot of my time trying to find replacements, and paypal charges 20% right now so if it's been charged, i cannot get it back for you and ATO is not going in the red to pay for refunds....FAIR WARNING...after this post, no refunds unless you find someone to trade with.....

    • Paul

Thanks for the coordination Phuong. :)

      December 4, 2013

Unless I know u personally and/or can trust that u will sign over your first born i will not vouch $ for you upfront. Paypal to rsvp cause i will not chase payment...learned my lesson the hard way so no more being nice. Sorry
