This will be the third event like this, to gauge interest levels! There is no structure, just a non-competitive game, whichever the sport!
Here's my goal: This is CASUAL!! (There are already leagues for you super competitive types.) If you are getting old and slow, like me, you've never played but always wanted to, you haven't played in a while, etc, THIS IS FOR YOU! WE are going to have fun (disguised as exercise), play safe, play fair, "maybe" keep score, and "maybe" play by the rules. This is also CO-ED! So, girls, we're going to let the boys play with us.
The first few meetings will be soccer. ALL you need is sturdy shoes, in terms of gear. We can play with 4 to 40 people! If you have a
soccer ball or cones etc, you're welcome to bring them. I have a ball and two soccer goals 4'x5' (smaller than regulation size). With more players, I hope to rotate and include basketball, softball, kickball, flag football, etc in LATER meet-ups. So come vote with your presence!
I know I can't please everyone with time and place, but I'm staying close to home for now. The Ala Wai Park, next to a school, has lots of parking, and it's not usually busy on SUNDAY. There are public bathrooms. (There is PLENTY of space for future activities as well...with a basketball court and a few ball fields.) To aim for cooler temps, 4pm to 6pm, just before dark. Then no one has to wake up early after a late night partying!! BRING WATER, but start hydrating before you come.
NEW MESSAGE -- PLEASE READ!! Common sense doesn't always prevail, so we have to make up these disclosure statements to cover our a****. Statement #1: Team sports come with the same risk as high-rise living: You can't control the behavior/habit of others, so you take some risk playing with them. Statement #2: You also must acknowledge your own physical abilities/limitations. Statement #3: Ignoring the first two statements MAY result in injury to yourself and others. By agreeing to play you understand that we are not responsible for your health and safety. You also agree to do your best to play safe...with others, and have fun.
