THANK YOU to all those who paid or renewed this month and are listed to the right! Special welcome to the new members! E komo mai!
Aloha All! This is not an event but just a monthly reminder to those who have not paid their annual $20 dues to please pay in person at an event or by paypal.
Most meetup groups do not charge a fee so many new members might wonder why ATO charges $20 annual dues. Your $20 annual dues pays for the $144 annual fee to meetup, paper products (cups, plates, utensils, paper towels, aluminum pans, etc.), propane, ice, birthday cake & ice cream, and other things like a BBQ grill & canopy. FYI - canopies & BBQ grills have a lifespan of less than a year so these are also ongoing expenses. ALL surplus dues are spent at the annual member's party on food, drinks, and games in May. Then we start all over again!
Just to give you an idea of the ATO membership, at the time of writing this on July 13th, there are about 340 members but less than 140 are current with their dues. That means less than 42% have paid. Sincerest apologies, Meetup does not have the software to distinguish who paid & who did not pay so unfortunately this "event"' is sent out to everyone. The only alternative would be to have someone volunteer to go thru the 300++ membership each month & send out individual reminders to about 150 people who are not current with their dues.
This is the plan effective June 1, 2012:
1. The $20 annual dues are requested to be paid upon joining but everybody gets a 60 day "grace period" to try the group. Once payment is made it is retroactive to your join date. Meaning if you join on February 1 but pay your dues on March 1, your dues will be recorded as being paid on February 1 and that will be your 12 month rolling anniversary date. There is no advantage to paying late so please pay on time.
2. If you have not paid your $20 annual dues after 60 days you will be deleted for non-payment. It is not that we don't want you but simply because it is not fair to those who have paid their dues. You are welcome to rejoin, but please pay your dues within 1 week of rejoining.
3. If you have reoccurring guests (they attend regularly), we ask that you pay for their membership as well because they are using ATO supplies & property and have access to ATO events.
4. Pretty please don't hate the collector. Everybody, including Event Organizers like myself, pay this annual fee even though we volunteer many hours of our personal time each month to organize events for the group.
You may check to see when your dues are due by selecting "View Profile" from the "My Profile" drop down menu on the top right of the page then look under "Membership dues last recorded by your Organizer".
Sincerest Mahalo & Warmest Aloha for being a member of the ATO Ohana!
Phuong, John F, and all Event Organizers
