This is a uniquely Californian phenomenon - people crazy enough to stay up all night on the city streets in order to have front row seats for the world's most famous parade, "The granddaddy of them all". See the most incredible floral creations along with some of the best marching bands in the country. Why sit at home and watch it on TV? If you've never been in person, you can't imagine what you are missing! And this year I personally won't miss it because the Grand Marshal will be Dodgers Announcer Vin Scully.Okay, you don't really have to camp out on the sidewalk all night, although that is part of the whole experience. Those of us who do can stake out enough space for anyone who arrives by 5 or 6 in the morning. We'll have a cook stove to make coffee, hot chocolate and ??? Just bring a blanket, a folding chair and whatever snacks you'd like. Also be prepared for whatever the weather forecast has in store (Jacket? Sunscreen?)We went two years ago and sat in front of Pasadena City College and discovered that this is the best place to hear the bands, because their families all sit in the bleachers there and so they are sure to be playing for us. The south side of the street is best for lighting and pictures. I will post information on where you can park, and when you get there (or any time after midnight) call my cell phone to find out exactly where we are (951) 440-2958.
