Member Mark Buckreis has graciously offered his home for "visit each others garden" meetup.  Below, in his own words, is Mark's invitation to the group....

When life hands you tomatoes make Bloody Marys! My garden is in full swing and summer crops of basil, peppers, tomatoes and spaghetti squash will soon be ready to eat. I will be making a couple different dishes from the harvest and giving it the old college try at making fresh Bloody Marys complete with homemade black pepper infused vodka. Don’t like liquor? Then maybe a chardonnay slushy may be more to your liking or an antioxidant rich Virgin Mary for those not wanting to drink alcohol. So bring a summery disposition (required) a friend (not required), a summer themed dish/drink if you want (not required) and enjoy the day after the 4th socializing , bird watching, and or catching up on the Tour of France on the flat screen while enjoying summer’s harvest! P.S. I will have a grill available to cook on as well.

    Hi Gerrit;
    I'm sorry you couldn't come either as I was really looking forward to meeting you. I know "life happens" and sometimes things come up at the last minute. It's okay. You missed a good meetup and I'm not just trying to rub it in. But it's okay...there will be other meetups. Sooner or later, it'll work out.
    Talking with Mark, Nancy and Stephanie made me realize just how little I know about gardening (and lots of other stuff). A mighty fine bunch of people. It's my wish to have a "visit each others gardens" meetup once a month. Stay tuned...
    Hope you have a really good day,
    -Bill

    I'm sorry I had to bow out at the last moment. I was so looking forward to this, but I had some unexpected responsibilities come up that preempted my plans. I'm hoping there will be another opportunity. Thanks, Mark, for the offer this past weekend. I wish I could have made it.

    Thank you Mark for hosting. I enjoyed learning about your vegetables and eating/drinking them too! It was nice to meet everyone!

    Thanks Mark for hosting the event and sharing your garden. I can't speak for everyone but I thoroughly enjoyed everything . I learned a few tips from Mark about how to keep the birds from pecking at my tomatoes. Also, I hope if we have a seed exchange, Mark will bring some of his four o'clock seeds, he has a few colors I'd like to add to my garden. This was my first All Things Gardening event, I will definitely attend the next (if my work schedule permits--sure hope so), had a fun time and met a really nice group of people.

    I think that good food & good conversation are two of the few simple pleasures left and there was an abundant supply of both. I had a good time.

    Parking is limited in my driveway and in front of the house due to a semi-steep drainage ditch and somewhat heavy traffic flow. Best spot is along Colfax Ave just east of my house along the airport's easement. You notice it cause it has no houses build on the east side of Colfax. Weather looks AWSOME! so bring a lawn chair we may spend most of the time outside.:>)

    Hi Gayle; I am sorry you could not come and I am looking forward to meeting you at a future meetup as well. This meetup had a rather short fuse and is on a holiday weekend, so it is completely understandable if you can't attend. Thank you so much for sending your regrets!! I really do appreciate it. I promise you that there will be other meetups. I also promise that I will do my level-best to put the longest fuse I can on each and every upcoming meetup so that people can plan ahead as much as possible. It is my hope that sooner or later everyone will be able to attend one of our meetups, because I firmly believe that everyone has a valuable tidbit; be it about "gardening" or about "life", to share that will help someone else. Again, thank you so much and I hope you have a really great holiday weekend,
    -Bill

    I agree with Stephanie. The guys are going all out! I don't know how I can top that! :-)

    Gosh, steak, pizza on the grill...sounds great! I'll bring something, not sure what yet...

    Everyone will see my gardening failures (at least this years ones :>) first hand. However I think homemade fennel bread pesto pizza made on the grill, with basil hummus to dip the crust in may be an enticement to others to join us next Saturday; I just hope I don't burn it!

    Looking forward to seeing everyone as well. I will bring a paper bag to put over my head for when I'm telling everyone about my gardening failures. I'll also bring some steaks and marinated baby bell peppers to grill and however many tomatoes from my garden that are ripe. I have four chairs and will bring those, too. Let me know if you need anything else.

    Changed my photo from this spring's lovely seedling to something more recognizable. Parking is best along the airport easement along Colfax Road just east of my house. Look forward to seeing everyone and hearing their gardening successes and failures! Plus there will be homemade Bloody Mary's. :>) Bring a lawn chair if the weather is nice.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
