John's Creek Holiday Parade (Founders Day parade)

  • Dec 7, 2013 · 10:00 AM

We have permission to participate in the John's Creek Holiday (founders day) parade!  We'll need to arrive early and I'm not sure how long the wait will be before the parade begins but I recommend bringing water and water bowls and lots of treats. Ill get a few people to hold our spot in line and find a close spot for the dogs to play until it's about time for the parade.

It would be great if all of the dogs wore antlers, if that can't happen, no problem. I'll try to wiggle our way in front of Santa's float!

I need RSVP's for this event as soon as possible because I have to list the number of participants in the application form which I would like to get in early.

If you're not comfortable having your dog in the parade please consider coming and cheering us on!

REMEMBER TRY TO RSVP ASAP!

Cathy and Seamus!

Thanks to everyone who came to the parade! It was a lot of fun! Once we started moving and even though it was freezing...... But the dogs were great and tolerated all the junk we put on them. Maybe it is like childbirth; we'll forget the bad and want to do it again next year.... Or not!

Thanks for organizing everything... I was way too nervous about it for nothing... All is well that ends well.

I don't want him to cause any chaos to the parade or him to be unduly stressed. It sounds like lots of fun, sad to miss it :(

Sorry you won't be there :( but I understand! You should come and cheer us on...I think the rain is holding out until the afternoon :-)

sadly Brodie and I will have to pull out, thank you Cathy for informing us of the mustangs that will be behind us, that's the reason we won't be there, Brodie is freaked out by the sound of mufflers and I am quite sure some of the cars will be sporting them :)

OK, FINAL instructions for drop off at the parade. Drive to the Ocee parking lot: 10900 Buice Rd, John's Creek, 30022. I'll shuttle 3 dogs and handlers at a time to the parade, sig. others and family should take the shuttle to the parade and meet us at the back of the parade. Our spot is "red19". There is a grassy area next to our spot where the dogs can chill Once everyone's at the parade site we'll take a group pic. We have 19 dogs. We'll probably need to place a person in each spot as a placeholder until it's time for the parade.

This sounds much easier, right? Thoughts?

Actually Bill will probably do the driving. We have a tan Jeep Cherokee.

Do we know where we are meeting yet? It looks like there are several staging areas for the parade- do we know which one we are in?

Does anyone have a child (or know of a child that would like to carry our banner?) we need 2. If not, can I talk 2 adults into this?

I'll try to narrow down the details on where and how we'll meet on Mon and let everyone know

OR we could make a banner to hold in front of the dogs and she and another kid could hold it (if she wants to)

    Kate,
I'd like to keep it one person to one Dane because I'm afraid that everyone would bring 2-3 people and then not be about the Danes. Would she be comfortable wearing an elf hat and walking next to Liam?

    October 2, 2013

  • Cathy F.

Liam has volunteered to be the elf

    Hi, Cathy:

Ruby and I will be there - we already have the antlers! I think I am going to have my niece that weekend who is 6... if so, will she be able to walk with us? If not, I can make other arrangements but wanted to check instead of assuming.

Oh BTW, would anyone be interested (or volunteer a family member) to dress up as an elf carrying a pooper scooper? I'm kinda not kidding. I really don't think anyone (dog that is) would poop on the street but it would be a funny gag!
