Are you ready to test your strength and endurance?  If so, let's climb Rincon Peak!  It is 16.2 miles round trip with 4500 elevation gain.

Bring 4+ liters of water/sports drink, lunch, snacks, layered clothing & normal hiking equipment (headlamp/flashlight)

We will meet up at I-10 and Houghton at 6:30 AM .  It takes about 1.5 hours to get to the trailhead.  We'll take I-10 east to the Mescal exit.  Then head north for 17 miles (dirt road).

No dogs, smoking, littering, Farting etc...

By coming along, you agree that you will assume all risks associated with hiking.  Hiking can be a dangerous sport in which you could be injured.

Teri, It was FUN listening to you laugh as we slid down all of those snow-covered slopes. YEP, I landed on my Butt more than a few times also on that slippery descent ;-) -- Bob

Yep, I left a lot of butt prints along the trail. Didn't need a sled!

It was epic. Large stands of Douglas Fir at 8000ft. 6 inches of snow the last 2 miles. Colonies of lady bugs all over the rocky summit. The trip kicked my butt and I loved it. Thanks Ken. You were the perfect guide. Teri and Bob were entertaining hiking companions.

    Steven,

I "think" the map that Kenneth included is incorrect. I believe that the parking area is North of I-10 on the West side of Houghton.

    Kenneth, Am I correct ?

    Thanks for feedback -- Bob

    Hi Kenneth,

My old Trans Am ( Lowered springs ) will NOT go off road ! Heck, speed bumps are a problem for that car ;-) So... do you have room in your Jeep for a fellow hiker who only "occasionally" farts, quit smoking years ago, doesn't litter etc. AND is up to the demands of this hike ?

I have GAS money ( Think Petrol -- NOT-- Flatulence ) Let me know as Rincon Peak is on my bucket list and I ain't gettin' any younger.

OH -- I'll need to bow out of Jeff's Bushwack to Ben Peak on the SAME day, in order to do Rincon Peak but... I prefer Rincon -- Bob
