This is a very popular and easy hike through one of the most scenic canyons of the Catalinas. This part of Pima Canyon is very spectacular, with steep rock faces rising on either side. Sometimes I think this is the prettiest canyon in the front range of the Catalinas, but then again, they are all incredible in their own ways.

Remember to bring at least two litters of water, snack, hat and sunscreen.  Weather will be hot before sun goes down.

Please note that if you have any medical issues I would like you to write them down and keep them in an envelope in your pack. For those that wonder why we don't split groups. This would be a good example. I allowed 28 on this hike and only 14 showed up. Thank you to those that were considerate enough to change there RSVP though.

Great group and hike! I am quite saddened by this ankle injury and thanks to all for making sure I wasn't left behind for lion dinner! I do hope it will be a quick recovery and the next time I'm out there I hope to have an unbelievably sturdy pair of boots on!!!

Maybe since there are so many waiting there could be two groups? The second group starting 15 min after the first group?

    June 24, 2013

    • Paul

Would just need another organizer to lead the second group is all. Generally that doesn't happen much cause so many folks change there mind the day before a hike.

Do you meet at the Iris Dewhirst Pima County Trailhead?

    June 24, 2013

    • Paul

Yes that is the right place. At the trail head there in the parking lot.

Don't forget your headlamp/flashlight. Hiking by moonlight won't be an option. Moonrise on Tuesday isn't until 9:34pm, and it will be much later by the time it's high enough to shine down into the canyon.

    • Paul

Yikes, Just dbl checked that. Bruce is correct. I thought I read it at 7:40 when I booked this. So I wouldn't be planing on much moon while hiking. But your drive home should be wonderful!! :-)
