Elephant Head on Sunday!

Hey hikers!!

It's time for Elephant Head!!

This is copied from Jeff's so eloquently written post............Thanks Jeff!!

Elephant Head - this is one of my favorite hikes in this area.

Here's the stats: Distance: under 7 miles round trip, however almost 3,000 FEET OF ELEVATION GAIN!

This is a difficult hike over very steep up & down terrain on a minimal animal trail with many clawing, scratchy, and tearing bushes intended to draw blood!

There is scrambling over rocky terrain with some exposure near the top. If you are afraid of heights, you will not finish this hike.

After hiking uphill for about 2 miles or so there is a deep ravine (5-800') that must be hiked down and then back up. The return is harder. This is a strenuous hike and your skill level should be intermediate to advanced.

Bring plenty of water and snacks or a lunch. Don't forget to bring your elephant trinkets or tributes for the memorial at the top.

This hike will be at your own risk!

........................................................................................

We'll meet at Midvale Medical Center on Valencia at 8am and carpool from there.

Hope to see you there!

One of the best views and sweetest scrambles in Southern Arizona with a good group of hiking buds. Thanks Kim for your unparalleled leadership.

Of course I will, Justin! Please note, I know you plan to grab my hand and throw me off of a cliff.

So...I'm a little afraid of heights. Kim, will you hold my hand if needed?
