7 Falls on my 37th Birthday!!! Hike & swim! If you dare!!!

Come join me on my first time organizing a hike and my 37th birthday up Bear canyon to 7 falls hike and swim if you dare. I plan on going in and any of you "Tough Mudders" in training feel free to join me.

It is a 8 mile round trip hike up Bear canyon. Plan for a 3-4 hour hike (depending on how much you swim).

Do dress for temperatures in the upper 40's low 50's hiking up the canyon even if you plan on swimming. The forecast high for the day of the hike is 66 degrees.

Here's a thought in case any of you haven't hiked Seven Falls in the winter. Much of the hike is in a canyon, and -- if I remember right -- the last part is almost always in shadow (during the morning, at least) because the sun doesn't come high enough overhead during the winter.

Some of you will know better than I, and I hope you'll reply publicly if I'm wrong. I thought I'd better post this in case some folks see it's a sunny morning -- so they don't bring warm clothes and a cap. (Keeping your head warm actually keeps your body warm!) Swimming is a different story. :)

(I'll miss the hike, by the way. I had to change my RSVP to no.)

Good point regarding the air temps and lack of direct sunlight in parts of Bear Canyon ! The "swim' is really more of a challenge to those who want to SHOCK their body from the VERY COLD water ;-) -- Bob
