With a view of the Pacific Ocean the Alta Vista Gardens Labyrinth was built around a granite sculpture. Due to space constraints we chose to build a Five Circuit Labyrinth. The Labyrinth was built around the Broken Link sculpture by Tony Imatto. It is located on the leading south west corner of the upper plateau of AVG. Board member Ivy Bodin generously donated $1000 to purchase the plants that were installed in and around the Labyrinth.
What is a Labyrinth?
A labyrinth is a single path or unicursal tool for personal, psychological and spiritual transformation. Labyrinths are thought to enhance right brain activity. One simply steps into the labyrinth entry and then walks on the path or circuit. The walls keep you on the path. The goal is in the center of the labyrinth. When you reach it, you have gone half the distance – you now need to turn around and walk back out.
A new Labyrinth has been built in Alta Vista Gardens that needs our Spiritual energy and Human hands-on nurturing. I wanted to support the growth, education and usage of a Labyrinth as a meditative tool in the Vista area. You should join if you are curious about walking the Labyrinth as a meditative tool, like to be outdoors, sometimes with your hands in dirt, meet others that are like minded. or want to give back to your community.
