Hello to all! Looking forward to the second meeting!

Today after my early Toastmasters meeting, I bought two breakfast food items from Burger King (total of $2.39)and took them apart, smelled them, and then threw them away and felt great! I am going to do this (or something very close to this) for the next 30 days to get myself out of the habit of thinking that just because I have access to food, I have to eat it! Feels quite liberating! Also I will buy a beer and/or small wine tonight and will pour it out on the ground. Again, to liberate myself and to break the chained behavior of -- seeing--wanting--buying--engulfing.

Reminds me of the time I was in college and a song from the animated movie, Alice in Wonderland, kept going through my head over and over. Nice song, but there is a limit to how many times I want to hear it. So I made myself sing the first three words over and over -- about 50 times -- and that song has not repeated itself in my mind since then. (The song starts out: "What's a nice girl like you, doing in a place like this" and so I kept singing, "What's a nice -- What's a nice--" over and over.) Singing those first three words over and over broke the chain - that is, the song stopped for me after that. I expect the same thing to happen with fast food and alcohol, two of the food items I am far better without.

This will greatly help me maintain a day of slim-fast only!

Anyone else have any interesting tips?

Yours,

Caleb
