Tongue Fu

An evening of spoken word, poetry, music and comedy! "Poet, musician and Tongue Fu founder Chris Redmond is joined by special guests Salena Godden and Toby Thompson, for a night of spoken word, genre-hopping improvised music by the Tongue Fu band and visuals inspired by our Warhol, Burroughs and Lynch exhibitions.

“An event, nay experience, that has taken the literary scene by storm” The London Word

Chris Redmond is a writer, performer and musician. Redmond’s performance on BBC Radio 4’s Bespoken Word was chosen for the station’s coveted Pick of The Week show and he has featured on Scroobius Pip’s Beatdown on Xfm and on Sky Arts’ series Spoken Word All-Stars. He's currently a Ferment Artist at Bristol Old Vic. Salena Godden is variously described as 'The doyenne of the spoken word scene' (Ian McMillan, BBC Radio 3’s The Verb); 'The Mae West madam of the salon' (The Sunday Times) and as 'everything the Daily Mail is terrified of' (Kerrang! Magazine). A writer and performer of poetry, fiction, memoir, radio drama and lyrics, she's also known as The General of The Book Club Boutique, Soho’s louchest literary salon, and as lead singer and lyricist of SaltPeter, alongside composer Peter Coyte.

Toby Thomson is a startling 19-year old poet who already has several RSC commissions, plus acclaimed performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Cheltenham Literary Festival, The Roundhouse and the Camden Crawl under his belt. The Tongue Fu Band is a small rotating crew of London’s busiest and creative musicians. On this gig the band are Riaan Vosloo – bass, Arthur Lea – keys and Patrick Davey – drums.

Designer David Cuesta – head honcho of design studio Creative R&D creates the visuals for Tongue Fu, combining motion graphics, film clips and slides with a combination of digital and analogue projectors. "

    Got ticket :-)

If people have time before, there's an interesting exhibition there of the photography of Andy Warhol, David Lynch and William S Burroughs. I went a few weeks ago. Cost is either £4 or free, depending on day. The exhibition ends March 30
