Welcome All Writers and Visitors,
We are just getting established and currently are planning on meeting the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1:15 pm at the Niles Coffee Shop located at 302 S Main St, Alturas. If this is not a convient day and time please let us know and we will try and adjust the schedule..
We are a group of people that like to write. We will be learning, helping, and gaining new friends and links to the writing world. You do not have to be a member to sit in on our meetings. You do not have to read aloud to attend the meetings, You do not have to bring anything, you do not have to sign anything. You may still participate in reading and critiquing the work of others.
We will meet in a public place, so be prepared to self-edit your work as needed to fit our venue (chances are we'll be reading along anyway, so the group will know why you skipped that one word sentence ;) ).
If you would like a live critique, bring copies for other members to follow and mark with feedback. Copies should be typed, single-sided, and double spaced with a 12 pt. font. Please number your pages. 10 copies to pass should be adequate. All copies should be returned to the writer at the end of the discussion.
Typically those who have something prepared in writing will read it for critique. Those who have properly prepared copies will read first. They have gone to the most effort and expense. If you do not have copies, we ask that you wait until the prepared pieces are finished. No one's writing is perfect so don't hesitate to bring your work.
Helping each other and learning is what its all about. Be sure to let the group know what type of feedback you are looking for (ie grammar and line edits versus plot and character believability)
