I am a 50 something empty nester who has been involved in the camera scene since I was about 16 and one of the photographers of my high school news paper. I like candid people photos as well as scenery. I miss photography on a regular basis.
At the moment I own a Cannon pro-am digital video camera that takes the most awesome stills. Adjusting depth of field and lighting is a little tricky. My second camera is a small Pentax designed for backpacking (very tiny). It is also a pretty good everyday camera but not one where I can play much with aperture, speed, or depth of field. Although I would love to learn to use photoshop for editing, the learning curve has been too much for me. I have been using Paint Shop Pro for the last 10 or so years with pretty good success. In the past two years I have written scripts for professional video and have produced a few videos for clients and business networking partners.
I have a tremendous grasp of old SLR cameras that used traditional film. I would like to learn how to change my thinking from f stops and speed settings to that of modern digital cameras. I would also like to buy a modern SLR camera in the near future and would like to know how to pick one that is a good value for me.
One of your members is a FaceBook friend and I saw your FaceBook link.
That would be hard to say as I haven't yet attended an event.
Not yet. My websites are all business oriented and don't have any photography samples to see.
Thanks for the welcome - See you soon.
Thank You I look forward to the group. I cannot meet this Wednesday and I already have a commitment, but look forward to the next meet up.

Sam, Welcome to the Austin WordPress Meetup. My partner and I have found WP to be a great CMS tool for our business and that of our clients. I look forward to meeting you at the nest meeting and sharing some CMS strategies that have worked for us.
