Sacred Music for the Keyboard

Revered for its depth, beauty, and timelessness, sacred music has been composed, arranged, or adapted for the keyboard ever since the keyboard was invented. From the organ and harpsichord to the clavichord and the modern piano, sacred music has inspired people of all faiths throughout the centuries.

Join us for a time-honored celebration commemorating sacred music for the keyboard in a free piano recital hosted by AmateurPianists at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church.

Pianists of intermediate or advanced performance ability who would like to perform a piece on the church's piano (not organ) are encouraged to sign up in advance by emailing Glenn Kramer. All are welcome to attend this free recital. A special "Artists Reception" with food and refreshments begins at 4pm and all are welcome! Please download our flier for more information.

Thank you, Tia, as always it's wonderful to receive positive comments like yours, and it was a pleasure to see you again and have a chance to talk during the reception. I'm glad you enjoyed our "thematic" recital and we'll do more like this in the future.

So delighted you enjoyed what we hoped would be a beautiful afternoon in an extraordinary venue. It was our genuine pleasure to present an opportunity for our members to play a piano of this quality. Loved mingling with everyone at the reception that followed; SO glad you could make it Tia!

Sorry I will not attend, found a new owner for my dog and have to bring him to Irvine on Sunday. I was looking forward to this concert. Enjoy!

There has been one cancellation for Sunday's recital, so if you have a "sacred music" themed piece to play, please email me at [masked] as soon as possible, we'd love to put you on the program!

Can we have a program preview?

    August 18, 2013

    • Glenn K.

Hi Roland, thanks for your request about the program. It's still being reviewed and updated, but some pieces planned will be by Bach, Mozart, Gottschalk, Ernest Bloch, and a few traditional pieces. It's going to be a fine program, and I hope you can join us.

    July 10, 2013

    • Glenn K.

Hi Tony, for clarification, will you be playing a piece on the piano? The organ itself will not be available to use for our members, but of course playing organ pieces adapted for piano are most welcome.

    • Tony P.

oh, I see, that is different! Too bad. I will rethink this.
