Brisk 'Keep Fit' Walk - Ambergate to Whatstandwell and back

Update 12.04.14.

Slight change of plan.  In order to avoid the £2 parking charge at Ambergate Station, let's meet in the large lay-by which is 1 mile north of Ambergate – on the left hand side as you head north on the A6.  The walk will still be 4 miles ish.

Now that the evenings are getting lighter I thought I'd try this as an alternative to an exercise class at the leisure centre.  It'll be about 4 miles altogether and should take just over an hour.  I expect there will still be plenty of mud around so I'll be kitted out in walking boots etc.

Please note the word 'BRISK'.

I'm not too sure about where to park but I'll check it out later this week and then add the info.

Thanks for organising this - A lovely way to wind down after a rather stressy Monday in the office & such cute ducklings too!

Do you have a postcode or more specific info so I know where to aim for. Is it towards Matlock

    April 13

    • Ellen

      I don't have a postcode I'm afraid.

If you take the A6 and drive straight through Ambergate (towards Matlock) it's just 1 mile after the A6/A610 junction (I clocked it in my car) on the left.

Don't worry Andy. What I have in mind is a good steady pace (rather than a gentle stroll) with few, if any, stops. The pace will be set by the group - and it certainly won't be merciless! :-)

Have you done it before? I think it's the descent that's the killer, on the knees. Hard to train for that.

    • Ellen

Not done it before - and I have dodgy knees!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
