Picnic and Games at Shipley Park

  • Shipley Country Park Car Park

Off Slack Lane, Heanor, Derbyshire DE75 7GX (map)

    53.006577 -1.359545

  • Dig out your frisbees, footballs and boules and let’s head down to the park for an afternoon of food and fun.  I propose a fuddle type arrangement i.e. each person will be allocated a particular item of food or drink to bring at a cost of about £3.

    Children welcome.

Park in the Coppiceside Car Park next to the visitor centre - DE75 7GX - £2.60 for 4 hours.

In the event the weather doesn’t co-operate we can arrange to retire to a nice pub for a few drinks as an alternative.

Really sorry everyone but having seen today's downpours I'm going to give up on this one completely.
I'll re-post on another Saturday in the next month or two when, hopefully, the weather will be kinder.

Just put wellies on then you can splash in the puddles! Now there's an idea for a AVF v DS challenge!!

It looks as though the weather isn't on our side but I'll wait until Thursday before formally changing the arrangements.
I expect it'll be a walk around the park for those who wish to brave the rain - then meet up at the Mundy Arms at 4pm for a couple of hours and a couple of drinks.
    Watch this space!

According to the weather forecast for Saturday it's supposed to rain all day? What's the plans if this happens?

Would it be ok if I altered my no to yes nearer the day, as I still not allowed to drive, I only live just around the corner so might bring my own picnic and a drink and sit on a bench and watch you lit playing silly games.

just posting up that I live in Heanor and know plenty places you can park for free right next to the park but 10mins walk max from visitor centre. depends how much stuff you've got to carry. got too much on that day at mo to attend for long - what time reckon you'll be there till approx.?

Hi Fiona - welcome to the group. The weather will dictate how long we'll be there so I can't say at the moment. I'll post something more concrete about 2 days before, once I've seen the forecast.

Are you going to allocate food to bring, or should we shout up with what we are going to bring along?

    April 19, 2014

    • Ellen

I thought I'd put a list together nearer the time and then ask people to pick from the list.
