Amber Valley Friends Vs Derby Sociables, Bake-off style!

  • Allestree Park Nature Reserve

    Allestree , Derby (map)

    52.955250 -1.479049

  • Lets take on Derby Sociables in a friendly bake-off competition.

    The event:

Bake 10 scones to your own winning recipe to bring along for judging

The organisors will allocate a number and distribute them so no-one knows the identity of each scone

Scones may be presented with jam and cream but this will not effect the judging

    The Voting:

All participants will taste and vote

Each participant will get to taste half a scone from each plate, so allergy sufferers should be aware of this when considering joining the event

    Everyone gets a vote

    One vote per person

No voting for your own scone

Voting will be based on 3 categories: appearance, taste, and texture of the scone, and nothing but the scone, accompaniments should be disregarded

Simply mark each scone out of a maximimum of 3 in each category

The scone with the highest total score from all votes will be declared the winner, giving an immense feeling of well-being for the baker and chalking one up for Amber Valley Friends, 'cause i know you can ensure we win

Meet on the main field of Allestree park, at 4pm. The entrance is along the A6 between Duffield and Allestree, and the car park is at the top of the lane, before you get to the car park near the main house.

    Remember to bring your scones!!

This event is limited to 10 competitors, so only RSVP yes if you are planning to bake. Spectators are unlimited so just put a comment saying if you are planning to come along and cheer us on!

After much discussion we have decided that AVF have an unfair advantage over Derby and so are postponing this event until Derby can rally the troops and provide us with some worthy competition.

:( no scones today. How about an AVF Bake-Off with the 'spectators' voting?

I think you can start discussing what the loosing team should do ;)

Hang on, thought this was meant to be a blind competition, so stop discussing your scone ingredients - apricot/ginger and cheese scones will be disqualified as you'll know who made them :P

My scones may be a little damp! Do we need to confer so we try and do something different each, or shall we just do what we think we are best at?

I'm not sure I will know what I'm cooking till the day ... have tried various sweet & savoury combinations which have gone down well at work. By that I mean my work colleagues eat anything!! :-)

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
