I have tried a few types of meditation and Insight Meditation or Vipassana (which means "seeing clearly") has been the one that has stuck. It has brought me greater peace of mind and an ability to be more present with what ever arises.

We read from Charlotte Joko Beck's "Nothing Speicial". She encourages us to look our pursuit of comfort, pleasantness and sacurity and our desire to exclude all discomfort, unpleasantness and fear.She points to the fact that in reality there is pain and discomfort in this life and to try to flee from it only increases it.She suggests allowing ourselves to experience the discomfort that can arise in our practice and our daily lives so that we can finally "let go" "That surrender and opening into something new is the consequence of experienceing pain, not a consequence of finding a place where we shut the pain out." "Rather than pursuing a one-sided ideal, we need to honor everything".
