Do you believe that either of the major parties represent mainstream political opinion in this country?
The events of the last three years have demonstrated that we have two major political parties, but one political class. When the GOP controlled both Congress and the White House, spending rose 33%. Multiple new entitlements and government agencies were created even as we fought a war against facism. GOP interest groups were given billions in earmarks and tax breaks.
Under two years of a Democratic Congress and two months of the Obama White House, over a trillion dollars has been given away, and the tax cheats inhabiting the Obama cabinet have extended government powers to their greatest extent since WWII. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the yearly deficit will explode from a "mere" $400 billion to $1.85 trillion dollars! By CBO projections, in six years, Obama will have amassed more debt than in the previous sixty.
Small wonder that world financial markets are considering the unthinkable: abandoning the American dollar as the world's currency.
Congress passes acts without even reading them, and the majority of the Republicans vote in lockstep with them. This madness must stop.
The American Conservative Party is organizing in Texas. We have a long-term plan to move from supporting conservative candidates in local elections to growing a national party ( http://www.theamericanconservatives.org ) from the ground up. A true conservative party. It's going to take more than talk radio, blogging, waving signs at a tea party, or discussing the latest conservative books at a coffee klatsch to get the job done.
Primaries are in March 2010. We have a year to raise money and build support for conservative candidates. Let's get cracking.
