We are pleased you have heard about our organization and would love to tell you a little about ourselves and to let you know how you can become a part of our growing community here in North West England. Just to give you a little information about the American Expats, let us tell you that in 1989 a small group of Americans living in Cheshire decided to gather for the first time and celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. After that, the interest in an expatriate social organization was so great that the founders decided to start a group that later expanded and in 1990 selected a name (The American Expats of Northwest England) and a slate of officers. In 1992 they added special interests activities, adopted a constitution and bylaws, printed up a membership directory, and eventually created a website to communicate events and activities to our members. Today we are 70+ families strong. As an organization, we hold many different events throughout the year. We have a monthly coffee, a weekly Mom and Tots playgroup as well as activities such as Bunco, Wine Club, Book Club, Hike and Lunch, Days Out etc. Additionally we have several major social events throughout the year including a 4th of July Picnic, a Thanksgiving Dinner, a Holiday Lunch and a Halloween Party. We are a nonprofit organization and encourage members to get involved in their communities charities. As a group we help to support the Children's Adventure Farm Trust through donations and various fundraisers.
