An Evening with Jack Kennedy!

Prairie Village best kept secret ... US Sen. John F. Kennedy appeared on Oct. 22, 1960 at a a banquet at Shawnee Mission East High School, the day after the final Kennedy-Nixon televised debates and just days before his election as president. The rare photos of this event will be unveiled for the first time to the public in a re-enactment of the 1960 Shawnee Mission East Banquet. The non- partisan event also celebrates the 50th anniversary of JFK's presidency. It is free and open to the public. Come hear a local actor recite JFK's actual speech, see rare photos, hear the Shawnee Mission East orchestra and choir perform patriotic and 1960's music. There will also be a panel discussion of actual participants of the 1960 event.

Met at the main door by Performing Arts Center

After the event we will go to Panera Bread down the street for a drink and socializing.

I arrived late due to watching Michigan State finish off Nebraska and didn't find the group. The stories of people's personal rememberances was interesting.

I didn't post this meetup (and don't know who did), but I'll do what the poster suggested and be at the main door at 5:45. Look for me there if you would like to sit with the group. Hope to see everyone tomorrow.

Suggestion to think about 50 years ago... go see the movie Parkland, it was a good and different viewpoint of others there in Dallas on the days following JFK's assassination.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
