West Bottoms Historical Walking Tour

This is the make up event for the Sept. 28th event. MUST RSVP on your own through library. The meeting place is on 13th and Hickory in front of the Stowe Building. The Stowe Building is a 13 story building with the name STOWE on it. After the walking tour we will meet for socializing and some brown shugga bacon monkey bread or whatever you want at Genessee Royale. Check out their menu:

Original event details below. Must RSVP! Those that call Pam at library may get to go as some people can not make this new date.

RSVP here

The library limits the # attendees at this event, so please sign up now, keep your RSVP updated, and out of your respect for all history lovers- show up to the event.

I will be keeping an attendance record.

The West Bottoms is the low-lying part of Kansas City pinched between downtown Kansas City, KS and Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, MO.

While the Kansas part was devoted chiefly to the stock slaughter business, the Missouri part was devoted to the transportation of goods and passengers, and the warehousing of agricultural goods.

Meeting Point:We will meet in the Bottoms at the intersection of Santa Fe and Union for a brief lecture followed by a 70-minute walking tour.

I will add details as they become available, but this area is rich in KC History and will be an excellent way to spend a Saturday morning.

Thanks for the FYI Stephanie! The group appreciates it!

Perhaps lunch or a glass of wine at Amigoni after the tour!

You must RSVP via the link above to reserve your space.

Gene, did Professor Miriani have his microphone for this tour? He can be hard to hear sometimes without it...but he definitely knows his stuff!

Just a reminder that the KC Marathon is taking place on Saturday morning and may affect some of your travels into downtown; especially from the south. The event begins at 7:05AM and here is the link to the course map:

Sorry a rookie here. I went to the link but it was for the original date. Is there a new link or a phone number I can call to RSVP to this event with the MO library folks? I appreciate the help.

I wish I could attend this one but I am competing in the Lenexa Chili Challenge. Maybe next time.
