Introduction

I returned to live in Vermont in 2007, but I lived in suburban NYC - New Jersey - for many years. While working in NYC, I became interested in international education working for AFS Intercultural Programs and the International Center in NY.

Are you currently an expat? If so, where are you from?

I was born in New Jersey to an American mother and an Iraqi father. I have lived in NJ, Pennsylvania and Vermont throughout my life.

If you are no longer an expat, where abroad did you live?

I have traveled to England multiple times (I have relatives living there), Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Australia and Argentina. I also have Iraqi relatives living in various parts of the world, including some in Jordan and some still in Iraq. I have never been to the Middle East, but I hope to travel there someday soon.

How long were you, or have you been, an expat?

I am currently considering various options for moving abroad in the future, including the Peace Corps.

What kind of activities would you enjoy doing with other members?

I like to meet people who have traveled and lived abroad. I like to try different cuisines. I enjoy foreign films and studying languages, even if I don't speak anything other than English fluently.
