  • Jon,
I checked this a.m. and just now weather.com. Snow stops at 6pm Friday. With temp drop and rain beneath. I threw a party 2 fridays ago under similar conditions and no one showed so I thought I would reschedule ahead of this event and be safe rather than sorry. I hate having to change it myself, but had to make a decision. I hope you can make it, if not we will do it again.

  • Hey, Jon! Just so it is clear, my response was to the "VT Movie Nights" intro (these "greetings" on meetup are a confusing nightmare). However. I did "join" the philo group, as well. But I doubt that I will be able to attend regularly, because I generally work on Sundays right now - so my attendance will depend on when I can finish up work that day. I also did not have any particular film in mind - but I never grow weary of people like Bergman, Wong Kar-Wai, Kieslowski, and some others. You?

  • I love your idea in the introduction! Frankly speaking, there are just not enough recently released films that I hold any desire to see. Alternate to finding a host, we could all watch the movies on our own and then meet for coffee for discussion at a regularly scheduled time? Thoughts on that?

  • Jon that sounds like an excellent idea. I wouldn't mind hosting but I don't own a TV. I do plan on buying a projector one day. I also make excellent real Arabic hummus that people love!

  • Jon- I'm new to this so please excuse me if I am way off base. Has your event already happened, is it on going, or yet to happen? (Art in Photography) Thanks.

  • Dear Jon,
I realize that it was just a word; however, one of my student's committed suicide because of the nonacceptance of his sexual preference and the bullying that he encountered. To him, I am sure, it was not just a word. What bothers me is that you admit to using it as an attention getter. I wish you well and hope that your group continues to grow. There is much to discuss about our world today; however, I believe that if we see a need for change, we must be physically involved.

  • This synonym was quite obviously used as a ploy to whet our appetites and curiosity. Not only did I find this tasteless, no pun intended but using any word that could be construed as being sterotypically hurtful is not necessary if your membership is anxious to meet. I'm afraid the leadership's attempt to provide foolish shock value has made me rethink any involvement I might have had with this group.

  • Jon, I posted a message to you on the message board. Having troubles sending personal e-mails from my computer. Please read. My apologizies. Susan
