Join us for the Annual Shimmy Mob performance on May 10, 2014.
And what is a Shimmy Mob you ask?
Similar to a flash mob, except with BellyDancers and the most important part--we are supporting a very worthy charity--Women who have been effected by domestic violence.
This performance will not only educate the public about bellydance, but also help provide support for millions of persons effected by domestic violence in the Tampa Bay Area alone. Last year over 150 city were involved in this fundraising project.
You don't have to be a dancer to participate--but it does help! You can sign up to participate at: www.shimmymob.com.
There is a registration fee ($25.00 before Jan 15 and $35.00 after that date). This fee helps cover you t-shirt, choreography information and generalized promotion. Sign up for the Tampa team--that's us.
Our location has not be confirmed yet, so stay tuned...I will notify you once the location or locations are confirmed.
Our charity of choice is HopeLine.
The HopeLine phone re-use and recycling program collects donated phones from across the nation, then refurbishes and distributes them to domestic violence survivors in need. Phones that can't be salvaged are recycled responsibly in a zero-landfill process. We then donate the proceeds to local domestic violence organizations nationwide—in 2011 alone, those donations totaled more than $4.2 million, supporting 450 local programs.
Choreography practice sessions will be scheduled at the American BellyDance Studio starting in March (there is no charge for participation in these classes--studio time is donated by ABS)
Come Dance with us to help those in need!
Please remember to sign up a www.Shimmymob.com before Jan 15 to get the discount. Start learning your choreography. We will have rehearsal classes closer to the event.
!!! We will be combining our efforts for a second performance with the St Pete Shimmy Mob Group--stay tuned for more details on the location and time.
