Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply. Just got back into DXB. For all of you that hit the gym or at least burned of the 1,500 Cal plus from last night's BBQ. Great Job! You all make me proud to be an American!
Thought, let's all get on 1 Whatsapp group to communicate faster. Send me all your numbers Via Meetup. I'll add you all & start the group.

Dear all, I just wanna give clearer instructions to my building's carpark as it could be kinda challenging. If you are coming from SZR or BizBay metro, you will come down a big bridge and a traffic light. Turn left and my building is the one by the corner of the traffic light. (Massive big building as we hv a office tower attached to residential). To get to P1-P4 carpark, take the first right into the carpark and then up the ramp on the left to bring u to P1 level. If you miss that entrance, there is a second carpark entrance after the bus stop. Once u pass the guard post, turn right immediately and go straight to the end and turn left to go up the ramp to P1 parking. I hope my directions are clear. If you are coming from Al Khalil Road, traffic light turn left. Follow the curly wurly road. Next traffic light, turn right then same as above. Take the first entrance to carpark, up the ramp on the left to go up P1. Swimming pool is @ P5, Bbq pit is at the end of right wing. See everyone!

Daniel changed the location for this Meetup
So Haruka is bringing dessert, I hv prepared a cold cucumber and tomato salad in a light soya sesame oil dressing & spicy buffalo wings. We also hv meat, sausages, side dishes. I don't have lots of beers only a couple of cisk, yabisu and blue moons. Can someone bring disposable cutleries and plates, napkins, cups etc...?

Alright, I can't e-mail the group because I don't have admin privileges (I contacted the group organizer, Matt Nobles, but never heard back). I scouted a few other parks, but BBQing was NOT allowed. So I suggest we stick with Safa Park and then we can always run to Union Co-op across the street and get some of those disposable BBQs if we can't find an open grill.
Since I'll have to find a grill, there's no way to say exactly where we will be located. I'll try to show up around 5:30 and find a grill, so that at 6PM you can come directly to our location. You can call me at zero-five-five-three-four-nine-two-five-nine-four (sorry, gotta stop the troll bots) on Friday.
So far we have meat and some side dishes. We could use drinks (non-alcoholic since it's a public park) and dessert, plus anything else you're interested in bringing :)

Mark is bringing some meat, I'm bringing baked beans, we could use some type of salad, chips, drinks, plates, silverware, napkins, ketchup, mustard, any dips, other types of sides, additional meat and probably the most important (at least to me ;) ) dessert! It may work best to just do a first come first serve type thing here. Just post what you would like to bring and whatever isn't taken, bring that.

Agreed Ryan.. I'm going to check out some of the smaller parks tonight or tomorrow to see if there's an alternative. It's also hard to find each other in Safa Park since it's so big :P I'll send out an e-mail tomorrow night with details and also ask people to comment on here with what they can bring, etc.

Good thinking, Susan. I was planning to bring a handful of steaks. I don't think we've settled on a location yet. Daniel mentioned below that he's going to scout for smaller, less crowded locations unless someone has a backyard or garden they're willing to offer. In which case, we can pair the steaks with beer!

Where in Safa park are you planning to meet and what should I bring? I assume we are each to bring something, but we might want to coordinate so we don't end up with 10 desserts. Look forward to meeting fellow Yankees. I've lived all over the US, favorites where Evanston and Chapel Hill.

Sounds good Mark. Just changed the date. Safa Park is mobbed by families having BBQs on Friday afternoon/evenings, so I might drive around to some of the smaller parks this week and see if they also have BBQs. Or if someone has a villa with a garden or something, we could do it at someone's house and also drink!
