June 2012 GMM: Serah Blain, Secular Coalition for AZ and Ashley Paramore, SSA

June 2012 General Membership Meeting

Serah Blain

Executive Director at Secular Coalition for Arizona

will speak to us about

The State of Secularism – The Slow Triumph of Reason in Arizona

Secular Coalition for Arizona’s Executive Director and your lobbyist at the State Capitol, Seráh Blain, will join us to speak about her experiences working with elected officials this past legislative season. You’ll learn more about the bills SC Arizona worked on, the relationships we built, our successes and setbacks, the growth of our community and the future of our movement. Ms. Blain will also be asking for your questions and feedback as we prepare for election season followed by another year of lobbying on the issues you care about!

In addition, we have a visiting guest:

The Future of Secularism – Our Students!

The Secular Student Alliance’s Development Director, Ashley Paramore, will be joining us all the way from Columbus, Ohio to speak about the importance of the secular student movement both in Arizona and nationally—and what you can do to help!

Notice: Time has been changed from morning to afternoon! We are working to make the meeting time work for everyone.

The meeting is free and open to the public.  If you’d like to have lunch, tell the cashier you are attending the ‘Americans United meeting’ to get the discounted price.  If you won’t be eating, just tell the cashier you’re here for AU and he/she will happily point the way.  (Ask the cashier - a “just or coffee/other drink” option may be available too.)

**AU-GP Board – Remember our BOD meeting will follow immediately following the General Membership Meeting.

I have a side job as a hypnotherapist on the weekends. Early mornings aren't that popular on the weekends. Most of my clients are afternoon and evenings.
So far I don't have a conflict and should be able to make it.

Sorry, Jeanne. If the afternoon time just doesn't work out, we will go back to mornings. I hope you can make it. This will be good!

Morning was much better for me, but I am still going to try and make it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
