Friday evening at the National Portrait Gallery

Join us for late night opening at the National  Portrait Gallery.

The gallery will be staying open until 9-00pm which will give us time to meet, see some of the collection and have a drink together at the bar.

There will be live music from Greg Tassell and Christopher Bundhun who will be playing two works by Benjamin Britten whose centenary is this year.

We'll be meeting between 6-30pm and 6-50pm in the main reception area which is marked as the Ondaatje Wing as you go up the stars. When you're in the reception area, look to your left and there is a large marble plaque on the wall, also marked Ondaatje Wing. We'll be in the corner near that plaque. There won't be any meetup signs this time, but I'll be wearing a discreet Stars & Stripes and Union Jack lapel pin.

If you can't see me or you're running late please text me on the Americans in London and Americans Abroad Meetup number -[masked] - which will be switched on from around 5pm until midnight on the day of the event.

How to find the gallery

The gallery is easily reached from either:

Charing Cross Station - walk through Trafalgar Square and round the right hand side of the National Gallery. You'll find the entrance to the National Portrait Gallery on that side towards the rear of the building.

Leicester Square Station - walk down the right hand side of Charing Cross Road towards Trafalgar Square and you'll find the National Portrait Gallery entrance at the rear of the National Gallery building. If you reach Trafalgar Square itself, you've gone too far.

Here's a link to the Getting to the Gallery page on the web site:

Look forward to seeing you there.
