Thursday Night High Trestle Trail Ride

High Trestle Trail ride open to any type of bike & skill level.

Beginner (9-12mph) / Intermediate (13-16mph) pace. Provided there is sufficient interest we will run two separate groups departing at the same time, with beginner group going to the west side of the bridge & back (~20 miles total) and intermediate group going to Woodward trailhead (~25 miles).

For anyone who hasn't experienced High Trestle, the trail is all nicely paved and the Slater-Woodward leg is quite flat and has quite a few trees to provide some wind protection. However, if you're just getting started on a bike and don't want to do the full 20 miles, there's always the possibility of stopping in Madrid and catching the group on the way back.

Meet at parking lot by Slater Pool at 5:15pm to air up; wheels down at 5:30.

Helmet, water, and shoes required (no flip flops).

Possibility of food & beverages at the Night Hawk following the ride for anyone interested.

I've been checking the National Weather Service forecast periodically and it looks promising that we'll stay dry for the ride Thursday--about 40% chance of precip during the day (minimal accumulation), dropping below 20% around our start time. I'm planning to ride and continue with the event as long as widespread precipitation isn't imminent... however if circumstances should change, I will post on here and message everyone who has RSVP-ed.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on Thursday! (And crossing my fingers for dry weather and a bit of sunshine!)

I hate to miss the first ride, especially the high trestle trail. However, my Thursday flight home isn't scheduled to arrive until 4:35pm. I could probably make it by 6, if all is on schedule.

Steve, I've RSVPd, but keep in mind if the ride starts at 5:30 I may not make it. On any event, if my flight is delayed, I might not make a 6:00 start. Do not wait for me at the start. If I'm a little late I can catch up. I'll also assume that inclement weather will create a rain date.

I see the weather outlook for tomorrow isn't very promising. Cool, rainy and windy. The big three that make cycling fun only for the most hardcore riders. I will check the weather when I hit ground tomorrow, and if the actual weather mirrors the forecast, I won't be rushing out to make the ride.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
