We are the Amnesty International USA local action group in Washington DC for advocating human rights in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region through grassroots action.
Amnesty International is a global movement of people fighting injustice and promoting human rights since 1961 and is currently the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization. In MENA, Amnesty focuses on a multitude of issues - from prisoners of conscience, to suppression of freedom of expression and assembly, to women's rights, and violations against the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) - among others.
Our group works to translate Amnesty's campaigns and efforts into action on the ground. We rally, lobby, petition, raise awareness, and work to mobilize the local community for MENA action. With our proximity to Capitol Hill and MENA embassies, and through partnering with local activist groups and MENA focused organizations, we have a unique opportunity for maximizing our collective impact both domestically and internationally.
Come and join us to learn more about our work for MENA and take part in volunteering for human rights!
